Fomo và Fobi là hai thái cực tâm lý chắc chắn Nhà Đầu tư sẽ gặp phải trong quá trình đầu tư của mình. FOMO và FOBI là tâm lý chung ảnh hưởng đến tất cả mọi người từ nhà đầu tư mới, cá nhân đến cả các nhà đầu tư chuyên nghiệp, kể cả tổ chức đều có trạng thái này. Yếu tố tâm lý là yếu tố khá là quan trọng quyết định thành công hay thất bị của 1 nhà đầu tư. Để đầu tư thành công, bạn cần nắm vững được chính tâm lý của mình, trước hết tìm hiểu ngay về Fomo và Fobi là gì.

FOMO – Fear of Missing Out: Theo cách nói dễ hiểu thì FOMO là nỗi sợ hãi mình bỏ lỡ những điều thú vị, hay ho trong cuộc sống mà người khác đang được trải nghiệm nhưng mình thì không. Chính điều đó khiến bạn luôn muốn cập nhật về hoạt động của bạn bè hoặc người khác để xem họ làm gì hoặc đáng nói hơn là muốn được trải nghiệm như họ. 

Đối với Nhà Đầu tư, FOMO là trạng thái khi 1 tài sản nào đó đang trong đà mang lại nhiều lợi nhuận cho mình mà bạn lại chưa sở hữu nó trong danh mục tài sản của mình. Khi đó bạn dễ ra quyết định mua vào mua vào tài sản đã tăng giá mạnh đó do tâm lý sợ bỏ lỡ cơ hội. 

Các nhà đầu tư lao vào đu đỉnh thường là do tâm lý FOMO.

FOBI – Fear of Being Invested: Là trạng thái khi bạn đã có tài sản đã tăng giá rồi, nhưng bạn lại luôn có cảm giác lo ngại tài sản của mình sẽ xuống giá, nên tâm lý lại luôn muốn bán ra. Các nhà đầu tư chốt lời sớm thường do tâm lý FOBI. Tuy nhiên, chốt lời sớm không thể khiến bạn thua lỗ, nhưng sau đó nếu tài sản đó lại tăng mạnh, bạn có khả năng lại trở về trạng thái FOMO và mua lại khi giá ở vùng đỉnh.

– Ví dụ trong thực tế biểu hiện rõ ràng và sắc nét nhất của hai thái cực FOMO và FOBI của Nhà đầu tư là trong đại dịch Covid-19:

Đại dịch Covid-19 và Cuộc bầu cử Tổng thống Mỹ như một cơn bão dữ dội quét qua nền kinh tế, để lại cho các Nhà đầu tư những trạng thái cảm xúc chưa từng có tiền lệ trong lịch sử. 

Khi Đại dịch Covid-19 làm mọi ngành tụt dốc không phanh và tê liệt trong khi cổ phiếu của các công ty về công nghệ và thương mại điện tử lại tăng mạnh. Dẫn đến xuất hiện một tâm lý là các Nhà Đầu tư sợ bỏ lỡ cơ hội đầu tư tốt nên vội vã bán cổ phiếu ở các nhóm ngành khác để đầu tư một cách dồn dập vào các công ty công nghệ, thương mại điện tử. 

Kết quả này là một điều tất yếu khi thị trường Mỹ ngày càng tập trung vào các cổ phiếu Công nghệ lớn. Năm tên tuổi Công ty Công nghệ lớn nhất – Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon và Facebook – chiếm 17.5% tỷ trọng của S&P 500 vào tháng Giêng, và sự chuyển dịch sang lĩnh vực Công nghệ trong Đại dịch Covid – 19 đã đẩy con số đó lên trên 20%. Bản thân Apple đã có giá trị hơn 2 nghìn tỷ USD, đó là một nét chấm phá mạnh mẽ của trạng thái tâm lý FOMO của Nhà đầu tư trong đại dịch.

Trong bối cảnh Vắc-xin COVID-19 được tiêm chủng rộng rãi làm cho Nhà Đầu tư hưng phấn, song cùng lúc đó, chính trường Mỹ diễn ra nhiều biến cố và sự kiện gây tranh cãi cũng đồng thời làm cho Nhà Đầu tư lo ngại. Tâm lý biến động theo tình hình chính trị và covid, kết quả làm cho sàn chứng khoán Hoa Kỳ liên tục lập đỉnh mới vì thông tin tích cực về Vắc-xin, và sau đó lại điều chỉnh mạnh vì động thái “Chốt lãi” sau khi khoản đầu tư của mình sinh lãi. Đó cũng là nét tâm lý rõ về trạng thái FOBI – lo ngại khoản lãi của mình sẽ mất đi.

Làm cách nào nhà đầu tư cá nhân tránh FOMO & FOBI?

1. Xác định phong cách đầu tư: Câu hỏi cần trả lời ngay từ đầu là: Bạn đầu tư ngắn hạn, trung hạn, hay dài hạn? Ví dụ bạn theo phong cách ngắn hạn (lướt sóng), việc thuận theo các đợt FOMO có thể giúp bạn có lợi nhuận ngắn.

2. Cắt lỗ đúng lúc: Một lỗi thường gặp khi đầu tư là nếu lỗ thì cố giữ thật lâu còn lãi thì hay chốt sớm. Hạn mức rủi ro chính là nguyên tắc cắt lỗ bạn đặt ra cho bản thân mình, điều này giúp bạn không bị sa lầy vào cảm xúc mong chờ tài sản lên giá lại. Chuyển vốn qua cơ hội đầu tư khác kịp thời.

Có thể thấy tâm lý FOMO và FOBI là hai trạng thái cảm xúc mà không nhà đầu tư nào chưa một lần nếm trải. Dân trader có câu “chốt lãi không bao giờ sai”; điều đó là đúng nhưng để trở thành một nhà đầu tư chuyên nghiệp thì chúng ta phải học cách vượt qua hai dạng tâm lý này.
